To the defender of the Orthodox faith, our Venerable Father Spiridon, let us bring from the heart thankful confessions, all we who through his wise teachings have been enlightened with faith, and let us sing to him: Rejoice, Holy Hierarch Spiridon, great wonderworker!

Oikos 1

The peoples of the faithful, knowing the multitude of your wonders, through which you shamed the senseless attack of the heretics upon our faith, with compunction we praise you with such songs:

Rejoice, hierarch of the Savior Christ;
Rejoice, refuge of those who flee to you;
Rejoice, corrector of the faith;
Rejoice, helper of the afflicted;
Rejoice, for you darken the mind of the pagans;
Rejoice, for you have wrought the brightness of faith;
Rejoice, for you valiantly drove away the adversaries;
Rejoice, you who have always shown yourself victorious for us;
Rejoice, lamp that enlightens those in the darkness of sin;
Rejoice, you who with gentleness receive the erring;
Rejoice, teacher of Christian dogmas;

Although we, the wretched, have not sufficient worthiness and understanding to praise your wonders with fitting words, yet because from pure souls and humble hearts we direct these confessions to you, receive them, Holy Spiridon, from us who sing to God: Alleluia!

Which of us sinners could boast that his prayer will be worthily received by you, if we do not strive to quench the impulse of our carnal passions, which are the work of the evil devil? But through the multitude of your wisdom, considering the weakness of our nature with mercy, for the troubles that have encompassed us, receive this song:

Rejoice, you who from the womb were chosen by God;
Rejoice, you who without philosophical learning were a defender of the law, vanquishing the philosophers;
Rejoice, hierarch adorned with the gift of the Holy Spirit;
Rejoice, treasured wealth of our law;
Rejoice, from whom even the most learned lawgivers were guided;
Rejoice, praise of hierarchs and teachers;
Rejoice, adornment of the Church of Christ;
Rejoice, reprover of the evil customs of heretics;
Rejoice, for from childhood you were full of wisdom;

Weighed down by many temptations, and finding ourselves today in the flood of most harmful sins, we place great hope in you, O Hierarch. Helper of the hopeless, comfort of the afflicted, we pray you, be an intercessor for our souls, and together let us sing to God: Alleluia!

The gift of the Spirit being with you, although in youth you were a shepherd of speechless flocks, yet in old age being wise, you knew how to shepherd also the rational flocks of the faithful and at the First Council you showed yourself a defender and wonderworker; for this we bring you this song:

Rejoice, praise of the faithful people;
Rejoice, healing of the sick;
Rejoice, for you are an intercessor before God for those seized by passions;
Rejoice, for from perils you save those who run to you;
Rejoice, deliverer from bodily and spiritual passions;

Rejoice, for in every circumstance being called, you are a swift helper;

O most merciful Father, receive this our prayer, us sinners, and with your customary goodness and mercy intercede before the Creator of all, that He may grant healing and health to His servants who call upon you for help, and with you sing to God: Alleluia!

Today standing before your icon, we the unworthy, as if we were even before your relics, of which wealth we are deprived, and confessing your wonders which you have wrought, Holy Spiridon, hear this small prayer and stretch out to us your right hand, powerful and blessing, for our help, so that worthily we may accomplish this song:

Rejoice, you who are a minister with the angels;
Rejoice, for you are also a dweller in the body with men;
Rejoice, whose body even today works wonders;
Rejoice, for your sandals serve as evidence;
Rejoice, precious treasure of the island of Corfu;
Rejoice, for your wonders have been proclaimed throughout the world;
Rejoice, you who spare no labor to do good;
Rejoice, helper of those who know your wonders;
Rejoice, unshaken pillar of Christianity;
Rejoice, praise of patriarchs and venerable monks;
Rejoice, for while serving in the church, the seraphim overshadowed you;

Just as on the island of Corfu, where your relics are, you mercifully visit and heal all the infirmities of the pious people who await your help, have mercy also on us the unworthy; send your help, and deliver us from the pain that has seized us, strengthening us to sing this song to God: Alleluia!

To show your great mercy to the human race, you deliver from distress those who are tossed about on the voyage of the sea of the world, when they ask for your powerful help and from the depths of the heart praise you with such words:

Rejoice, most good helmsman of storm-tossed ships;
Rejoice, refuge of despairing swimmers;
Rejoice, calm of troubled waves;
Rejoice, for by your breath the billows are stilled;
Rejoice, for by your prayer you disperse also the storm;
Rejoice, for through your intercession the darkness of clouds is enlightened;
Rejoice, for you are a strong helper to those terrified by thunder;
Rejoice, deliverer of those frightened by the lightning bolt;
Rejoice, for by your intercession with the Savior, you deliver us from every peril;
Rejoice, our hope and refuge for the present;

O God-honoring and divine Spiridon, hear this our prayer in this hour, and through your holy and God-accepted prayers, deliver us from the war that frightens us, as you delivered those who were tossed about on the sea when they called upon your help, so that we also, like them, may bring to God the song: Alleluia!

Hierarch of Christ, honored minister of grace, mediate for us sinners your rich intercessions before the Master, that we sinners may be counted worthy to partake of the soully and bodily good things promised to faithful Christians, and sing to you:

Rejoice, Spiridon of Christ;
Rejoice, honored minister of grace;
Rejoice, healer of the sick;
Rejoice, myrrh that dispels all pain;
Rejoice, refreshing dew from the heat of the most terrible passions;
Rejoice, for through your prayers the paralyzed are strengthened;
Rejoice, near helper of those sunk in many perils;
Rejoice, for you entreat the Lord for all who lie on the bed of pain;
Rejoice, for we sinners also ask help from you;
Rejoice, for seeing only your image on the icon, all our pain is soothed;

O most merciful and long-suffering Lord, overlook not the tears of Your servants, but help them and have mercy on them with Your love for mankind, delivering them from all oppressions and every distress that has seized them, because of the multitude of sins, and as You raised up Peter’s mother-in-law from the bed of pain, so raise up also Your servants from the peril in which they are, for the prayers of Saint Spiridon, with whom together we sing to You: Alleluia!

All the heavenly powers, praising the firm faith in God, together with you serve the unoriginate Creator of the world; but we, knowing no other prayer, bring to you these words of praise:

Rejoice, for you have shone forth faith through wonders;
Rejoice, for through faith you could work wonders;
Rejoice, for your prayers were never unheard;
Rejoice, wise intercessor before God;
Rejoice, incense well-accepted before the Lord;
Rejoice, whose prayers have saved souls from perils;
Rejoice, you who vanquish the powers of the lawless;
Rejoice, strong helper of the faithful;
Rejoice, strength of cities inhabited by Orthodox peoples;
Rejoice, destruction of the strong walls of the lawless;
Rejoice, for tyrants are vanquished hearing of the power of your faith;
Rejoice, foundation upon which the sign of the cross was set;

All pious rulers, having their hope in you, in any circumstance will not be put to shame, Father Spiridon, for you are a great benefactor to Christianity; therefore overlook not our prayers also, O Merciful One, and help us and deliver us from all needs, even though we are unworthy of this gain, and we will sing together with you to God: Alleluia!

Oikos 8

Having the power of grace received from God, you changed drought into rains, and also the excessive multitude of rains, through your prayers, O saint, was stopped, and from that terrible famine the people who awaited it were bedewed, the granaries of the hoarders of grain being scattered; for which we sing to you these things:

Rejoice, refuge from visible famine;
Rejoice, for you, like another Elijah, changed the severe drought of the season into rains;
Rejoice, through whose prayers the excessive rains were stopped;
Rejoice, good hope of tillers of the soil;
Rejoice, multitude of those who sow with faith;
Rejoice, abundant harvest of sowers;
Rejoice, rich steward of the poor;
Rejoice, for in any time of drought, asking your help, we also obtain it;
Rejoice, for from you we receive help always;
Rejoice, comfort of those seized by needs;
Rejoice, praise of the faithful;
Rejoice, fruitful field;
Rejoice, Holy Hierarch Spiridon, great wonderworker!

O wonderworker, Holy Hierarch Spiridon, as in the time of Constantine and Constantius, through your prayers you delivered the people from peril, bringing upon their crops nourishing rains and scattering the granaries of the hoarders of grain, so also today send your mercy upon the people dwelling in this land, granting them abundance and fruitful season, for the help of the poor and those who weep, with whom together we will sing to God: Alleluia!

Oikos 9

When you heard that poor man asking your help in his troubles, you did not repel him with sorrowful words, nor did you despair him of the rich gain, but, changing the serpent into gold, you gave it to him with your blessing, for his use, and you saved him from the crisis of needs; for which hear this praise:

Rejoice, wealth of the poor;
Rejoice, helper of the needy;
Rejoice, for you changed the serpent into gold;
Rejoice, for you turned the nature of the reptile into metal;
Rejoice, for by this you showed the worthlessness of the deceiving metal, to be useful only for what is beneficial;
Rejoice, for by this the poor man was saved;
Rejoice, for you showed your wonder to the lender;
Rejoice, for through your prayer the gold was again changed into a serpent;
Rejoice, inexhaustible treasure of the poor;
Rejoice, whose gifts our mind cannot judge;
Rejoice, treasurer of the gifts of Christ;
Rejoice, for the wealth of this world was not needed by you;
Rejoice, Holy Hierarch Spiridon, great wonderworker!

Accounting ourselves like that poor man, who are poor in good deeds, grant us your help with which, vanquishing all attacks of enemies upon us and the assault of poisonous serpents of thoughts that fight against us unceasingly, we may obtain things profitable for this life and for the future, singing together with you to God: Alleluia!

Oikos 10

Who will not be frightened by your deeds, when he hears how the dead woman from the grave answered you, when you questioned her, and how the sailors were delivered from drowning? For the envied one, whom you delivered from death. And for all your wonders, we all bring you this praise:

Rejoice, help of widows;
Rejoice, revelation of unknown things;
Rejoice, for even the dead woman answered you for your faith;
Rejoice, for that answer silenced the unbelievers;
Rejoice, for you did all these things for the faith;
Rejoice, for you accomplished wonders at which the chosen of the pagans were terrified;
Rejoice, for for the glory of the Creator you willed to do these things;
Rejoice, for the good things of the earth were not needed by you;
Rejoice, for you gathered your treasures in heaven;
Rejoice, for even today your mercies pour forth from there;
Rejoice, also for us who thank you for all you grant us;
Rejoice, for for all we sing to you: "Rejoice";

The dead woman, hearing your voice, answered you from the grave the question you put to her; and as with faith you made the lifeless body give voice, so mercifully make also our bodies, deprived of good things, to obtain health and salvation, so that we also, together with you, O saint, may bring to God the song: Alleluia!

Oikos 11

Physician of souls and bodies, Holy Spiridon, who delivered Emperor Constantine from the illness he had and turned the child of that woman back to life, turn also our wretched soul, dead from the multitude of sins that have seized it through the prompting of the devil, and receive as reward this thanksgiving:

Rejoice, healing of the faithful emperor;
Rejoice, deliverance of the child of the woman who was dying;
Rejoice, for through you the mother of the healed child was made joyful;
Rejoice, joy of mothers who love their sons;

"Rejoice," said Emperor Constantine to you; "Rejoice," sang to you with tears that woman with her son;

Rejoice, whose remedies are not deceptive;
Rejoice, deliverance of the harlot woman who dared to touch you;
Rejoice, for seeing her harlotry, she repented and was cleansed;

"Rejoice," cried that harlot to you, when she escaped from sins;

Rejoice, healing of my body;
Rejoice, salvation of my soul;
Rejoice, Holy Hierarch Spiridon, great wonderworker!

We ask no more mercy from you, O Father, than you have shown to all those who before us came to your help and, for your name and your intercession, obtained from the King of heaven and of earth healing of diseases, health and increase in things profitable, so that, as they, so also we together with you, may sing to God: Alleluia!

Oikos 12

Do not give us over to death, O most blessed one, as that woman who fell into the sin of harlotry, even though we are more sinful than she; for we, being seized by the shame of our deeds that have encompassed us from youth, will not doubt to confess our sins to you and to ask your help with such words:

Rejoice, testimony of those who confessed their sins to you and repented;
Rejoice, reproof of those who craftily hide their sins;
Rejoice, for you do not bear those who live in lawlessness;
Rejoice, for you have shown yourself a strong benefactor to those who repented;
Rejoice, for you loosed the tongue of the proud deacon that had been stopped, for his humbling;
Rejoice, for you turned back the goat from the one who had stolen it, bringing it to its owner;
Rejoice, for you beforehand revealed unknown things that were to be;
Rejoice, for many came to faith, seeing your wonders;
Rejoice, for I also await healing from you;
Rejoice, and be an intercessor for me for the forgiveness of my sins;
Rejoice, for you have gladdened with your wonders the whole Christian race;
Rejoice, today also for me a sinner and have mercy on me;
Rejoice, Holy Hierarch Spiridon, great wonderworker!

O most good and all-praised Father Spiridon, receiving this present gift, be an intercessor before the merciful God, that for your holy prayers and His love for mankind, He may grant us health and forgiveness of sins, so that we also with you together may sing to God: Alleluia! (this kontakion is said three times)
